Not sure I really like applique. I have tried the freezer paper method, the no sewing until you quilt it method, and now the raw edge with light fusible method. I fused the pieces to the background then did the applique and quilting at the same time. It didn’t work very well, but I am ok with how it turned out. From the front it looks good, but the back is a bit messy.
This is how I quilted it:
- Started with the tulip flower trying to zigzag stitch (but didn’t really like it)
- Straight stitched around each appliqued piece to secure them
- Stitch the border design like the other blocks
I did the black embroidery by hand after quilting it. I made sure to not go all the way through the block, so it doesn’t show up on the back.
Until Next Time!
