So sorry I haven’t been keeping up with things here. It’s been a couple of weeks since I posted last. Back to paper piecing with this one. I love paper piecing. You can get the pattern over at The Splendid Sampler. The patterns are free for now, but if you want them all printed in a book, you can preorder The Splendid Sampler: 100 Spectacular Blocks from a Community of Quilters.
I wanted a focal point for this block since it had a large open square in the center. I chose a design over at Leah Day’s Design Gallery. When I am looking for inspiration, I head over to this page to find some.
Here’s how I quilted this particular block using my open toe quilting foot:
- Stitch Lollipop Flower in the center square.
- Stitch in the ditch around the square and the blue-green leaf shapes
- Stitch curvy lines to create vein-like lines in the blue-green leaf shapes
- Stitch the border design like the other blocks.
Here’s the back so you can see all the stitching. I really like the lollipop flower. It definitely gave me the focal point I was looking for.
Until Next Time!
