Lots of little quarter square triangles and some applique. I went with a brown and pink color palette. I used the raw edge applique method for the cup and satin stitched it down during the quilting process. You can still get your pattern for free at The Splendid Sampler or you can preorder the book. Just a reminder that the patterns will only be available for free for two weeks after the Sampler finishes.
Here’s how I quilted it using the foot labeled “I” on my Juki F600 called the manual buttonhole foot which is also used for satin stitching:
- Satin stitch the applique pieces and straight stitched around it
- Stitch in the ditch around the center square and the diagonals of the quarter square triangles
- Stitch the border design like the other blocks.
The light colored quilting shows up clearly on the brown back of the block.
Until Next Time!
