Block 79 – Spool of Inspirational Threads

img_1417

I loved creating the blue and purple designer fabric with my scraps for this one. And of course it was paper pieced. You can get the pattern for the pieced block over at the Splendid Sampler  for free or you can preorder the book. Just a reminder that the patterns will only be available for free for two weeks after the Sampler finishes.

Here’s how I quilted it using the open toe free motion foot on my Juki F600:

  • Stitch in the ditch of the center spool area
  • Stitch in the ditch around the spool sections and outer edge
  • Pebbling in the space around the spool
  • Match stick lines in the top and bottom of the spool
  • Stitch the border design like the other blocks.

The backing fabric is light greys and off whites.
