Applique? Piecing? I decided to try to piece the building since there were straight sides most of the way. Not sure I like to outcome. But as I have said before: It is what it is!
Sadly, the Splendid Sampler patterns are no longer available for free, but you can preorder the book that contains all of the patterns. If you haven’t started your blocks yet, it is not too late. It looks like they will be starting a new quilt-a-long again in May after the books ship!
I didn’t follow the instructions for the block but used the pattern. After stitching the straight edges of the building together, I left a quarter inch seam to turn for applique on the top odd shaped top sections that weren’t already connected. After ironing the pieces in place on the background, I used a button hole stitch on my Juki HZL-F600.
Here’s how I quilted it:
- Stitch in the ditch and around the applique pieces.
- Stitch the border design like the other blocks.
Until Next Time!
